Vizag Students Throw Bouncers At Botsa
Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, who is eager to become the chief minister of the state, had to face embarrassing questions from students of an engineering college in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Participating in “Youngistan” programme organized by ABN Andhra Jyothy channel managing director Vemuri Radhakrishna, Botsa was virtually pulled up by the students for targeting YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the name of corruption; and escaping from allegations against himself in the Volkswagen scandal.
One student sought to know whether Botsa had the courage to say that he was not corrupt and had won the elections without distributing money to the voters.
“You can give lectures to students only after proving yourself clean,” she said.
A visibly embarrassed Botsa said it was an embarrassment for any politician to face such a question.
“If I admit that I am corrupt, then I have to face the inquiry. If I say I am clean, I am cheating myself. It is for you to judge who is correct and who is not. You have a weapon in your hands, which you can use every five years. You better ask yourself whether you are voting for the right person or not,” he said.
Another student wanted to know why the Congress was targeting Jagan only after he had resigned from the party. Botsa found it tough to answer; but reminded that the Congress had never ordered any inquiry against Jagan, but it was the High Court which had done it.
“Our government did not spare anybody, even it was a Congress leader like Suresh Kalmadi or an MP of a friendly party like A Raja or Kanimozhi. In the case of only two leaders, Jagan and Amar Singh, the courts had ordered the probe,” he reminded.
To another question, Botsa had to explain at length as to why he had to face inquiry in the Volkswagen case.
