Andhra Pradesh all set for President's rule?

Following the issue of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh may soon come under the President's rule like it was under central rule in 1973.

Reports suggest that the state might soon witness President's rule after the Dasara festival. Sources also reveal that the chief minister's office and intelligence say that plans are full fledged and a call will be taken in Delhi and ESL Narasimhan, governor and former intelligence bureau (IB) chief has been summoned to New Delhi for a meeting with Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh after the core committee meeting.

"The Congress might base its decision on the core committee meeting. The governor presence is required whatever the decision,” said the source.

ESL Narasimhan on being asked on the possibility of President's rule in the state said “I have nothing to say.”

He however, said he hoped that “God will help solve all the problems that the state is facing.”

The Telangana agitation has viewed chaos in past many days. Reports suggest that if the issue is kept temporarily paused till 2014, it could lead to serious law and order situation in the state, which the state government would not be able to tackle then forcing a President's rule. Pranab Mukherjee's statement over the issue that no conclusive decision could be taken has only riffed speculations.

“TRS wants to garner a major chunk of 119 seats in the region, in which 29 are in Hyderabad,” said a senior Congress leader, Greater Hyderabad.

The Telangana agitation has affected lives to a large extent with schools, local courts, government offices and even temples having remained closed for the past 25 days.
