High Court tells CBI to probe Jagan assets
In a major blow to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the High Court ordered a full-scale CBI investigation into allegations that he amassed assets disproportionate to his income and directed the investigation agency to register a case against all those who invested in the companies promoted by the YSR Congress chief to ascertain whether those investments were made in order to receive favors from the state government.
While giving the order, the court took into account a report submitted by the CBI on July 26 after conducting a preliminary inquiry. the court had ordered this inquiry while dealing with a petition filed by State Textile Minister Dr P Shankar Rao, and another petition filed by Telugu Desam Party leaders.
The bench headed by Chief Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru noted that the publications had been showing phenomenal growth and therefore needs to be probed into due to its unusual performance.
