Odarpu Yatra in district from October 16
YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will undertake Odarpu Yatra in Guntur district from October 16. The tour will start from Kuchanapalli village in Mangalagiri Assembly constituency.
The first leg of the tour is likely to pass through Tadepalli, Mangalagiri, Chinakakani, Duggirala, Tenali, Vemuru, Repalle, Ponnur, Bapatla, and Thullur in Tadikonda constituency, covering the six Assembly constituencies of Mangalagiri, Tenali, Vemuru, Repalle, Bapatla, and Ponnur.
District convener of the party Marri Rajasekhar and city convener Lella Appireddy have appealed to party functionaries to leave no stone unturned to make the tour a grand success.
Both the Congress and TDP, who have a formidable strength in the politically sensitive district, would be gauging the response to the tour.
A significant chunk of second and third rung leaders of the Congress have already joined the YSR Congress, while senior TDP leader Makineni Pedarathaiah has been made the Polit Buro member.
The last time Mr. Jagan visited Guntur was during the election campaigning in April 2009, which kick-started from Macherla. The campaign was marred by controversy with Narasaraopet court issuing a NBW against Mr. Jagan for violating norms during electioneering in terms of using vehicles and loud speaker beyond 10 p.m.
