KCR begging national media for coverage
Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao is just the kind of politician who believes in the Telugu adage: “Andithe juttu, Andaka pothe kallu” (Catches the hair if he can, or falls at the feet if he cannot).
There were times when the national media channels made a beeline before his house and waited for hours to have his interview after the controversial announcement by home minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009. Except NDTV group editor Barkha Dutt, nobody could enter his house and talk to him. As a result, the national channels have been hardly giving any coverage to the TRS news, though they are reporting the ongoing Telangana agitation in bits and pieces.
Now that the Telangana agitation is at its peak and the Centre is compelled to take some decision the contentious issue, KCR desperately wants to get back into the national limelight. And that was why he was virtually begging each and every channel and the print media at the national level to give wide coverage to the TRS view point. Obviously, he wants to become part of the decision making at the national level once again.
On Wednesday, the TRS president called all the national media and gave them one-on-one interviews, besides participating in live discussions. He spent almost four hours with the media, which is very rare in the recent times!
