What's there in Centre's mind?
What is the Centre thinking on the Telangana statehood issue? This is the question bothering the minds of the people, both from Telangana and Andhra.
According to reports from New Delhi, the Centre has just ignored the Telangana issue all these days for various reasons: Madam Sonia Gandhi was ailing and was out of country; secondly, the issue being sensitive, it is better to keep it under cold storage because any decision either way would cause heavy damage to the party; thirdly, the Centre had seen several such agitations in the past in the state and other parts of the country and the best way to solve them is to dodge them; and fourthly, there were several other headaches for the Centre to tackle, like 2G spectrum scam and Anna Hazare movement.
At the AICC press conferences, only Andhra journalists used to ask questions on the Telangana issue. But now, the situation has changed.
Even national media is evincing interest as to what is happening in the Telangana region. And the BJP press conferences do not end up without making a mention of the Telangana agitation. The Telangana issue is now a hot topic in Delhi.
Under these circumstances, the Congress high command is believed to have realized that the sooner a decision is taken, the better. But the leadership is in a quandary as to what decision it should take. The only point of talk right now is that the Centre might impose President’s Rule before announcing any decision because it is not accepted by either by the Telangana region or the Seemandhra.
