No threat to Congress govt in Andhra:Azad

Congress ruled on Tuesday filed any threat to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the resignation of 24 party MLAs opposing inclusion of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the name of an FIR by the CBI.

"Of those who have resigned, 24 belong to Congress ... We do not want to resign. We want to remain in Congress. But as far as what you said about the threat of the Congress government there has the majority party even without these 24 (MLAs), "AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters here.

29 MLAs, including 24 from the Congress had, by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly resigned on Sunday to protest inclusion YSR names stored in the FIR by the CBI in a probe into the assets of his son Jaganmohan Reddy.

"Whether or not we have a majority, we will say that these 24 MLAs have misunderstood the question. Congress no role in what happened there," said Azad.

Noting that law has its own way, he said the judiciary had the CBI, who should be inquired directed, and accordingly, the agency carrying out the probe.

"There is no role for the Congress Party and the Centre or State Government in all this. It is wrong to assume that all this is done at the behest of Congress," he said.

Azad noted that probes at the behest of Congress had been carried out, a central minister and a party MP would not have been in prison.
